Donald Trump said in an interview Tuesday that Hillary Clinton’s policies as president to address the Syrian conflict would lead to World War III, arguing that the Democratic candidate would lead to US an armed confrontation with Russia, Syria and Iran.

“What we should do is focus on ISIS. We should not focus on Syria , ” Trump told Reuters on Tuesday at his resort  in Doral, Florida.”Let’s finish in World War on Syria if we listen to Hillary Clinton.”

The Republican candidate, who has called for a rapprochement with Russia in order to jointly combat ISIS, argued that the so-called Democratic rival to take a more aggressive stance on Syria and fight ISIS only lead to US to a wider war.

Trump’s statements come at a time when polls show him behind Clinton up to 12 points- in most national polls and in key states just two weeks before the elections.

“He’s not fighting against Syria, he is fighting against Syria, Russia and Iran, okay? Russia is a nuclear country, but a country where the missiles work unlike other countries that speak,” he said.

Trump has not established a clear strategy to fight ISIS or address the conflict in Syria, which caused hundreds of thousands dead and millions displaced. He recently suggested joining forces with Russia, which has helped the Syrian regime in the bombing of civilians and allied rebels of the United States to fight ISIS.

Clinton has called for the establishment of a no-fly zone over Syria, a proposal that Republicans in Congress have defended, but President Barack Obama and others have opposed because of the risk of conflict with Russia. A fly zone imposed by the United States would mean US You could shoot down a Russian plane if it comes into Syrian airspace.

Clinton argued that the measure, which should be negotiated, not impuesta- could “save lives and hastening the end of conflict.”

In addition, Trump has called for the establishment of security zones in Syria to protect civilians as Clinton at which could also put US in conflict with the Syrian government or if Russia opposed the policy.

The Clinton campaign later on Tuesday criticized the rhetoric of Trump.

“National security experts on both sides have called Donald Trump as dangerously unprepared and temperamentally unfit to serve as commander in chief,” said Clinton spokesman Jesse Lehrich.“Once again, he is repeating the talking points of Putin and playing on the fears of Americans, while refusing to design their own plan to defeat ISIS or alleviate the humanitarian suffering in Syria. Moreover, this attack arsonist is directed against a policy that his own running mate, Mike Pence, firmly supports “.
